In Yorùbá philosophy, Àyànmọ̀—destiny—is the divine path chosen by one’s Orí before birth, witnessed by Orúnmìlà and sanctioned by Olódùmarè. It guides each person through life’s lessons and blessings. Though fate is chosen, character (ìwà pẹ̀lẹ́) and effort shape its unfolding. When we honor Orí through gratitude and right action, destiny flows in harmony with divine order.

In Yorùbá spirituality, self-love is sacred alignment with Orí, the inner divinity that governs destiny. Even the Òrìṣà cannot bless without Orí’s consent. To honor Orí is to nurture good character (Ìwà pẹ̀lẹ́), set sacred boundaries, practice gratitude, care for body and spirit, and keep the inner head cool through mindfulness.
