The importance of respect in orisa worship
In the Lukumi tradition devotees are prepared to uphold our spiritual dogmas as they are the foundation for studying and practicing the tradition. To uphold the legacy of our founding Mothers and Fathers, Ile Oro remains true to the original Yoruba tenants of orisha worship. Our tradition is one of respect and discipline and is learned through spiritual development and apprenticeship. We learn to humble ourselves, to be compassionate, and to service the community. This, in essence, is what good character looks like and what being a devotee of the orisha is all about.
